Paraikaa ajellaan kotiin päin Saariselän pakkasista, joten nykyisin harvinaista joutilasaikaa on kerrankin käytettävissä päivityksen tekemiseen jostakin hullusta sisustusprojektistani, mitä en ole ennen paljastanut. Kuvia on otettu jo kauan sitten, ja nyt ne tulivat arkiston kätköistä esiin. Tässä siis ensimmäinen osa karuilla työvaihekuvilla kellarikerroksen arkiolohuoneen muutoksesta.
The year has changed once again, and I'm writing
here again after a very long break. Right in the beginning I wish you readers
luck and all the best for the year 2016!
Right now we are driving homeward from the
frosty Saariselkä, so the nowadays infrequent free time is for once at disposal
for doing an update on a crazy interior decoration project, that I haven't
revealed before. The pictures have been taken long ago, and now they have come forth
from the depths of my archive. So here is the first part with rough work phase pictures of the basement's TV room transformation.
Kellarikerroksessa oli varsin pitkään väliaikainen tv-tasoviritelmä, jota näissä lähtötilannekuvissa ei enää ole.
For quite a long time, there was a
temporary TV stand-structure in the basement, which doesn't exist anymore in
these initial state -pictures.
I started building a new TV stand. My husband,
of course, tagged along in the project and finally adopted its implementation
almost completely to himself, leaving me "only" to be the designer
and the finisher. We are still quite a good team :). The above picture shows
that the kids have occupied themselves with puzzles amongst the chaos.
For the materials, I decided to use 5x5
inch beams that have been lying
around under our terrace, which we once got from sawing some logged trees on
our lot. The posts on the fence surrounding our lot were made from similar
beams a few years ago. The beams have over the years darkened to just the
suitable colour, so I only honed the surfaces with a sander until they were
smooth from the aftermath of the rough sawing. I wanted to leave the natural
coarseness and saw marks visible, which make the surface interesting.
For shelf material, we also got raw board,
which I also honed with the sander and coloured "dirty" with a simple
technique: I mixed a suitably coloured liquid from water colours and spread it
on the boards with a brush (that liquid is usually available in the hobby room
thanks to the kids). After the honing, the boards looked surprisingly of the
same colour as the rest of the beam material.
The goal was to get a mantelpiece-styled shelf
and a clear-cut "mansion house" atmosphere without any unnecessary
frills. At Christmas time, stockings (or other frills) can be hanged on the
edge. Here the whole, still a bit unfinished. I also elaborated something from
the leftovers of the shelf boards and an old nineties beech mirror, found in a
recycling centre for five Euros. Below, one picture of that project.
Seuraavalla kerralla näytän sitten kuvia viimeistellymmästä kokonaisuudesta, joten pysykäähän linjoilla :).
Next time I'll show pictures of the more
polished ensemble, so stay tuned :).
